【节目中涉及的音乐人Donald Swann简介】

唐纳德·斯旺（Donald Swann）出生于威尔士，后全家移居伦敦生活。他是著名的音乐家和喜剧艺人，与好友迈克尔·弗兰德斯（Michael Flanders）组成的音乐喜剧组合“弗兰德斯与斯旺”（Flanders and Swann）在上世纪5、60年代享誉英国，曾多次前往美加澳新巡回演出他们的滑稽剧。通常弗兰德斯负责作词演唱，斯旺则负责作曲演奏。

在某次澳洲巡演途中，斯旺阅读了托尔金的《魔戒》，回到英国后便着手为书中的一些诗谱曲。他与托尔金本人合作，后者完全赞成他的创作，除了声乐套曲中的《Namári?》。托尔金向斯旺哼了一个曲调，作曲家欣然接受，据此写下了我们现在听到的《Namári?》。

1967年，这张黑胶唱片录制出版，名为《中洲的诗与歌（Poems And Songs Of Middle Earth）》，托尔金的忠实粉丝W.H.奥登还为唱片撰写了介绍。在唱片A面，托尔金亲自朗诵了《汤姆·邦巴迪尔的历险》中的诗歌。

唱片B面第一首，托尔金用辛达语朗诵了赞颂埃尔贝瑞丝的诗《A Elbereth Gilthoniel》。然后便是斯旺创作的声乐套曲《长路漫漫（The Road Goes Ever On）》，作品共有七首曲目，由斯旺本人亲自演奏钢琴，男中音威廉·埃尔文（William Elvin）演唱。埃尔文当时正在英国皇家音乐学院就读，已经获得了凯瑟琳·费丽尔（英国著名女中音）奖学金，后来他成为了英国皇家歌剧院的一名演员。
